One of the most popular baseboard mouldings in the Atlanta area is # 125 speed base
baseboard moulding. This versatile and attractive moulding is available in fingerjointed wood and MDF.
Baseboard mouldings are typically used at the “base” of a wall where the floor and the wall meet. Combinations of planes, angles, concave and convex surfaces cause light patterns to convey a pleasing image where an abrupt transition would otherwise be. Speed base has the same look generally achieved when a base cap sits on top of a piece of square board, to give the combination a more finished visual appearance. Having a single piece of moulding reduces the labor required for installation. Adding shoe mould provides protection for the base board and covers any gaps between the base board and finished floor.
Another baseboard moulding pattern widely used in the Atlanta area is commonly referred to as "colonial base". The "
ogee" pattern at the top of the moulding remains the same on several patterns, while the heights vary, again to give a more pleasing proportion of baseboard to wall.
We also stock speedbase in a 7-1/4" wide pattern. This adds the dimension required for a more pleasing verticle proprtion of baseboard moulding to wall height in rooms with taller ceilings.
